Housing minister V Somanna, along with his supporters, allegedly barged into the office of Suvarna News, a regional news channel, on Crescent Road near Shivananda Circle and attacked journalists and other staff on Thursday night.

The channel had telecast a news item saying that Excise Minister M P Renukacharya had allegedly assaulted Sommanna on Wednesday night, for joining KJP. As the news was being telecast repeatedly, Somanna, along with around 50 supporters, barged into the news channel office and attacked the staff. A few journalists, cameramen and other staff were allegedly manhandled and injured in the incident.

The supporters also raised slogans against the news channel for airing news against their leader. The situation was brought under control after the High Grounds police rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.
