Budget to oversee total development: CM

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said that the 2013 budget would focus on benefits for farmers, rural development with prominence to North Karnataka, employment and overall welfare of the state.

At the inauguration of the three-day Bangalore India Bio-2013 on Monday, the CM stressed that a fair budget with focus on overall development would be presented on February 8. He added that he was not perturbed by MLAs resigning and the risks posed to the government.

“The BT finishing school approved by the Central government will play a major role in boosting the industry which in fact grants `5,000 per month for a period of three years to the students. The Biotech Park which should operate in two years will boost the biotech industry,” he added.

CM also pointed out that out of the top ten Biotech companies, five are located in Bangalore.

 “Karnataka gets 26 per cent of its revenue from biotech industries and companies,” he said.
