Raid rules: High Court lambasts Lokayukta police

The High Court on Tuesday lambasted the Lokayukta police for conducting raids without registering a complaint and FIR and directed the IG&DGP to give proper training on rules and regulations of raids following a petition filed by two sub-registrars of Gulbarga and Basavana Bagevadi taluks challenging the  raids.

A division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice K Sreedhar Rao said: “Lokayukta raids by two sub-registrars without filing an FIR is stupid and illegal.a”

Recently, Lokayukta police raided the Gulbarga sub registrar and recovered Rs 11,500 and arrested two sub-registrars Girish and Hawaldar.  The two filed a petition challenging the Lokayukta police act of raiding the offices without filing a complaint. They contended that no complaint or FIR had been registered against them.
