‘She is overqualified for FDA job offer’

“My daughter is over qualified for the post of first division assistant (FDA), which is being offered by the State government. She will not take up that job,” said Sumathi M Naik, widow of Madan H Naik, an assistant conservator of forests, who died after an assault by miscreants at Dandeli Crocodile Park in May 2012.

She told Express from Ankola on Wednesday, “My daughter, Megha Madan Naik, has passed MSc Bio-Technology with flying colours from a reputed college in Bangalore. Ministers, who came to our house after the incident, had promised to give my daughter the post of either Assistant Conservator of Forests or Range Forest Officer. Now, they are trying to “eye wash” us by offering the post of FDA. In fact, the government had agreed to give this post long ago but we rejected that offer flatly. It’s true that we are in dire need of the government job because of our financial condition. However, I am not ready to compel my daughter to accept FDA post.”

Earlier, Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar while replying to Basavaraj Horatti in the Council, said that the government was ready to offer FDA post for daughter of Naik. He said, “Since Megha has passed BSc she is eligible only for the post of FDA and not for ACF or RFO post. Accordingly, a government order is passed to give FDA job to her. The government has recommended giving a plot to that family.”
