Minor tribal girl suffers miscarriage

A 13-year-old tribal girl who was eight-months pregnant, suffered a miscarriage at a private hospital in the city on Friday. She is out of danger and doing well.

H D Kote inspector Gopalakrishna said that the girl dropped out of the Ashrama School in Penjalli haadi five months ago after she was married to her maternal uncle Rajkumar. They were staying with her grandparents in Kenjalli haadi.

On Wednesday, the girl fell unconscious following severe bleeding and labour pains and was admitted to a hospital in Saragur. On Friday, she was shifted to a private hospital in the city where doctors confirmed miscarriage and that the baby had died two days ago.  The girl’s father died sometime ago and her mother had remarried.  ITDP district officer Nagaraj was not available on phone. No case has been registered.
