Disproportionate assets case filed against MLA

Krishnappa is accused of floating fictitious firms

A new complaint has been brought before the Lokayukta Court against Vijayanagara constituency MLA M Krishnappa (Congress) and his family members, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his sources of income.

Kamble Muralidhar, an advocate from Bidar, in his complaint alleged that the accused along with his family has floated fictitious companies and running real estate projects across Bangalore worth more than Rs 100 crore.

According to the complaint, Krishnappa, during his tenure as an MLA between 2000 and 2006 had amassed wealth and suppressed such information while filing the annual returns with the Lokayukta between 2006 and 2011. The accused is alleged to possess land measuring 17,115 sqft and 10,535.20 sqft on 13th cross, Agrahara Dasarahalli, Bangalore, worth more than Rs 16.3 crore.

He also allegedly took loans worth Rs 5 crore from Janatha Seva Cooperative Bank Ltd by making false claims that he was owner of Lakshminarayana Builders Pvt Ltd in Bangalore.

Krishnappa is also said to be the owner of Bluejay Enterprises, having housing projects across Bangalore, in which one of the cooks at his house has been made the director.

Bluejay Oasis, off Sarjapur Road, Bluejay Emarald off Uttarahalli Main Road, Bluejay Palmfields on Hosur Road, Bluejay Crest near Electronic City, Bluejay Pacific off Mysore Road behind Rajarajeshwari Medical College are some of the projects linked to the company.

The complainant has pleaded to investigate into the transactions of such land deals and book him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Meanwhile, it is noted that Lokayukta police had conducted raids on the premises of Krishnappa and his family members in a similar case last year. However, the Lokayukta Police had filed a ‘B’ report against Krishnappa as they found no concrete evidence.
