An elephant belonging to Sakrebailu camp was found dead on Sunday morning in the forest area reportedly following an attack by wild pachyderms.
On Saturday morning, Rajendra (33) and other elephants had gone for a bath to the Sakrebailu forest as usual. When the mahouts went into the forest to bring them back on Sunday, they found Rajendra dead near Jenukallu area. According to Forest Department officials, when Rajendra went into the forest he might have come face-to-face with wild elephants and in the ensuing fight, he may have slipped from the hill.
