Helpline for MGNREGS launched

The Karnataka Rural Development and Panchyat Raj Department (RDPR) launched a helpline to provide information on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and to help rural poor.

After inaugurating the helpline here, Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa said: “The poor, who seek employment under the MGNREGS, need not worry about the complex procedures any more as they can get free assistance by dialling toll-free number  18004258666 from any part of the state.

The call centre will not only help them in getting the job card from the local GP offices but also help them in getting the work and managing their accounts.”

If the government fails to provide at least 100 days of work to the job card holder even after he applies for it, the government will remit the compensation to his account. Any person from the BPL families can apply for job card if he/she is above 18 years. The call centre is outsourced to Transact Global.

The department also launched its official website www.espandna.in
