DAVANGERE: Three-time MP from Davangere district G M Siddeshwar got lucky on Monday, as what was former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s loss proved to be his gain.

Siddeshwar, a staunch loyalist of Yeddyurappa, got the ministerial berth under the Lingayat quota as Modi refused to accommodate Yeddyurappa in his team till the latter emerges clean from the taint of corruption.

“I attribute my victory to the blessings of my parents, family members, the efforts put in by BJP workers and the best wishes of my friends and BJP leaders,” Siddeshwar told Express on Monday.

Siddeshwar was an agricultarlist. Hailing from Bheemasamudra in Holalkere taluk of Chitradurga district, he held various positions like president of areca chamber of commerce and member for standing committee on finance parliamentary board.

He also served as member of telecom advisory committee and railway advisory committee.
