One held with new notes worth Rs 37 L

CHITRADURGA : Police nabbed a person from Pavagada who was illegally carrying `37.30 lakh in `2,000 denomination notes, on Monday. 


Inspector K Samiulla along with PSI Satish Nayak and their team on a tip-off were successful in seizing the cash and arresting accused Ramakrishna when he was about to flee. 


According to the police, Ramakrishna was involved in exchange of old `500 and `1,000 notes with new notes of `2,000 denomination. 


They said the accused was in touch with Challakere-based traders and assured them to exchange notes. On a complaint received from a trader Santosh Kumar, Challakere police swung into action and were successful in arresting the accused. 
Challakere police have registered a case.
