As news of their son Ramesh's suicide spread like wildfire, Chikkahombale Gowda and Sakamma were in a state of shock. Ramesh took care of his diabetic parents and also his brother's family. He had also purchased a small house in the  village and had thought of renovating it after raising a bank loan.
Though Ramesh was under pressure, he did not disclose it to the family members or friends. He quietly left the house on Sunday afternoon saying he was proceeding to Bengaluru. He managed to check in at a lodge and remained indoors fearing that Nayak and his personal driver Mohammed were looking for him, source s said. He ensured his friends provided food to his room. Later, he drank poison, leaving a death note.

Ramesh’s brother Mahesh squarely blamed Bheema Nayak and his personal driver for the suicide. "He took the extreme step without even disclosing the mental agony he suffered from Naik and others," he charged. He said Ramesh's demise would bring their family to the streets as they have no other source of income. "From where will I bring `4,000 a week to buy medicine for my parents?" he said.
The villagers claimed that Ramesh was victim of Nayak's misdeed and his illegal dealing in money laundering. "Why should our poor children suffer for misdeeds of people in higher positions?" they said. They want the government to give compensation to the family.
The police authorities should look into call details and also those involved in extortion of Ramesh, said Mahendra.
Revenue Department officials visited Kadakothanahalli and assured the family that they would get some compensation.
