New Indian Express journalist wins Ramnath Goenka Award

The New Indian Express journalist Christin Mathew Philip received the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award in New Delhi on Wednesday.

BENGALURU: The New Indian Express journalist Christin Mathew Philip received the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Christin, a Principal Correspondent with TNIE in Bengaluru, won the Prakash Kardaley Memorial Award for Civic Journalism for his reporting on civic issues in Chennai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was the guest of honour at the function held in New Delhi, presented the awards.

Awards were given away in 28 categories for exceptional work in print, broadcast and online journalism in English, Hindi and regional languages.

The Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards  were instituted by the Ramnath Goenka Foundation in 2005 to celebrate the legacy of the founder of  The Indian Express Group.

The awards cover investigative, political and sports journalism, non-fiction writing, features writing, sports and entertainment, commentary and interpretative writing, editing, on-the-spot reporting, photojournalism and work done in regional languages.
