Rudresh murder: BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje accuses Infrastructure

BENGALURU: The murder case of RSS worker Rudresh took a curious turn on Friday with BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje accusing Infrastructure minister Roshan Baig of having a direct involvement in the case.

Baig however, has dismissed the allegations as a bundle of lies to communally polarise Shivajinagar constituency. Shobha accused Baig of giving 'Supari' for the killers to eliminate Rudresh, as Baig was worried about his rising popularity in Shivajinagar assembly constituency.

She has demanded the State government to hand over the probe to National Investigation Agency (NIA) or Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to unravel the deeper political conspiracy behind Rudresh's murder. She has also demanded Baig's resignation.

Speaking to a private TV channel, Shobha said that her statement was based on the information she has gathered during her interaction with police officers who are investigating the case and the general opinion of the people of Shivajinagar. "Ashim Shariff, Bengaluru district president of Popular Front of India(PFI), who has been arrested by the police in connection with the murder case has revealed that Baig had given the ransom for killing Rudresh," she alleged.

The police should investigate Baig's role in the murder. State police cannot be expected to go to the bottom of the case and hence the investigation should be handed over to NIA or CBI," Shobha demanded. Meanwhile, Baig dismissed Shobha's allegations as a bundle of lies to incite communal polarisation in his constituency and expressed his readiness to face any probe, whether NIA or CBI. He also said that he is contemplating to file a defamation suit against Shobha and is holding discussions with his legal counsel in this regard.

"I have never had any association with outfits like PFI and I have friends in BJP and RSS. Those making the allegations will realise this if they interact with RSS and BJP workers in Shivajinagar. Coming from Mangaluru, Shobha is making the false allegations for cheap publicity and to disrupt communal harmony," Baig said reacting to Shobha's allegation.
