‘Drug mafia’ drives student to death

BIDAR: A student of Gurunanak Dev Engineering College committed suicide at his home here on Sunday. Police have recovered a suicide note from the spot wherein the student had alleged harassment by a ‘student drug mafia’.
Sachinkumar Dhanraj Bajawale, 19, resident of Vidyanagar, was in the third semesterof civil engineering. In thesix-page suicide note, he had drawn a diagram on how he was going to end his life and also mentioned the names of five students, including two girl students, of other colleges.
Four students named in the note have been arrested and the police are on the lookout for the fifth.

Sachinkumar had alleged in the note that these  students who sold drugs used to torture him and would extort money from him. Unable to bear their torture, he was ending his life, the note said.
He had also alleged that these students had given supari to a goon to kill him. Sachinkumar had said in the note that it was the goon who had told him of the murder plan and was trying to kill him since October 26. He said he had narrowly escaped once. Since it became evident that he was going to be bumped off, he decided to kill himself, the note said. In the death note, Sachinkumar had said that he had not shared his worries with his parents as they had enough worries. Investigation is on.
Meanwhile, Minister for Higher Education Basdavaraj Rayareddy who is in Kalaburagi told Express that he had received report of suicide of a student due to torture of drug mafia. The minister said that the higher education department as well as the police would conduct inquiry as both the person who committed suicide and the persons named in the death note were students.
