Police intensify probe into Bidar suicide

BIDAR: Following the arrest of four students on charges of abetment to suicide of Gurunanak Dev Engineering College student Sachin Kumar, the college administration is now keeping an eye on students’ activities. 


Sachin Kumar, who was found hanging at his residence in Bidar had mentioned the names of four students in his death note.  The police have arrested Anjali Swami and Fazim, students of GND Engineering College and Taufeeq and Azarkhan who belonged to another college. Taufeeq and Azarkhan had discontinued their studies long ago. As Anjali Swami and Fazim had failed in a few exams, they were studying from home.


Speaking to Express, Principal Ashok Biradar said the institution is free from ragging incidents and drug use. Biradar said Anjali Swami was a problematic and irregular student.  He said the accused were not drug traffickers but used to consume it. Meanwhile, Bidar SP Nikkam Prakash Amrit said the arrested have been were remanded in judicial custody.  The police are trying to find out the reason for Sachin Kumar mentioning the name of the girl student in the death note as she was  not at all connected with the incident, he said.
