Note of dissent at swearing in of new Karnataka HC judges

BENGALURU: Five new additional judges of the Karnataka High Court assumed charge after being sworn in at a ceremony in the High Court on Monday. They are Kempaiah Somashekar, Kotravva Somappa Mudagal, Sreenivas Harish Kumar, John Michael D'Cunha and Basavaraj Andanagouda Patil.

Chief justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee administered the oath to them. CM Jagadish, president of the Karnataka Bar Council, struck a note of dissent at the ceremony, saying advocates recommended by the district bar associations were not considered for the appointments.
