HUBBALLI: The BJP will give priority to drought situation in the Legislature session which begins from Monday at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar said the legislators of his party will take part in fruitful discussions and will corner the state government which failed to tackle the drought situation.

Shettar told reporters, “Our first priority should be to discuss the drought situation.
On Monday morning, the party will raise the issue. The government has failed to address the issues related to drought. And second priority will be to discuss the Mahadayi issue.

“The winter session should dedicate two days to discuss the issue. The BJP will personally seek permission from the speaker to include the issue in the agenda,” he said. The state government has failed to keep its words that all cases against farmers would be withdrawn once chargesheets were filed against them
Though the police filed chargesheets a few months ago, the government has not withdrawn the cases against them.

“Apart from that, the BJP will discuss various issues related to the development of North Karnataka and Hyderbad-Karnataka region,” Shettar said.
