BJP: JD(S) is Cong’s B-team

BELAGAVI : With the JD(S) holding the Union government responsible for the ‘injustice’ done to the state on several matters, BJP called the party the ‘B’ team of Congress.

JD(S) leaders like Mahadev Gowda and Y S V Datta, while speaking in the Legislative Assembly on the Mahadayi issue on Friday, alleged that the Centre was ignoring the state on Cauvery and Mahadayi issues.

Despite BJP having more MPs from Karnataka than Goa and Tamil Nadu, the state was neglected. “The state BJP has done little to check that injustice. Mahadayi issue is not as big as Cauvery, and it could have been solved easily if Prime Minister Narendra Modi made up his mind,” Gowda said, adding state BJP leaders were misusing their powers. Datta said no Prime Minister except Indira Gandhi favoured the state. No government at the Centre undertook any water-related project in the state after 1996.

On his party being described as the ‘B’ team of Congress, Datta said truth always hurts and his party never believed in flattery.

Siddu Nyamagouda, the man behind construction of  the Chikkapadasalagi barrage, said that it was unfortunate that the issue was not solved despite the agitation of farmers approaching 500th day. Such a long strike never happened  in any part of the state, he said.

Ramakrishna Doddamani said that Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra must settle the disputes amicably.
Shivalinge Gowda said people of Karnataka cannot ask Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief for help. Modi must intervene before people run out of patience.
