Jaya fans elated over her recovery,  gift gold, silver masks to temple

MYSURU: With Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health condition said to be improving, her fans have offered gold and silver masks to Lord Anjaneya and Lord Ganapathi at the Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamudi Hills.

They also performed special puja to the presiding deity at the temple.Jayalalithaa, a native of Mandya district, had visited Chamundeshwari Temple and offered puja on many occasions. She had also offered puja before Tamil Nadu went to polls in 2012.

AIADMK workers who were keeping their fingers crossed for more than a month after ‘Amma’ fell ill, have something to cheer now after the hospital authorities stated that Jayalalithaa is fast recovering. They presented a golden mask weighing 4.7 kg and a 15-kg silver mask to Lord Anjaneya. A 1.6 kg golden mask and 1.6 kg silver mask were presented to the Ganapathi idol.

The total worth of the donations is said to be more than `1.5 crore.

The temple priests decorated the idols with golden masks and offered special puja.

Temple chief priest Shashidhar Dixit said Jayalalithaa is a devotee of Chamundeshwari. He said Jayalalithaa fans regularly visit the temple and hold special pujas for her good health.
