BENGALURU: The Azim Premji University has announced the winners of First Social Enterprise ‘Idea’ Challenge, organised for university and college students, across India on Saturday.
After rounds of evaluation, Shashanka Sekhar from KJSIMSR, Mumbai, bagged the first prize for his unique idea on ‘ShanSa’, a healthcare product, which was projected as a social healthcare sector-based venture focused to bring eco- friendly and commercially viable solutions for toxic bio- medical waste disposal, by transforming this unorganised field into an organised sector.
Anil Kumar Reddy and Sandeep Sharma from NIT-Nagpur won the second prize for their idea on ‘Donatekart’. It has been conceived as a crowd-sourcing platform for social organisations where they can run campaigns, by listing the products that they are in need of and donors can donate these products online. This will be an e-commerce platform, where people, instead of buying for them, buy for the NGOs and the enterprise, instead of delivering products to people, delivers to NGOs.
Divyang Panchal, Vrundavan Bhatt and Sudeep Patel from Institute of Rural Management, Anand, Gujarat, and the joint idea of Nitish from Montfort College, Bengaluru, and Sherlie Priyanka Stephen from Christ University, Bengaluru, shared the third prize.
IRMA’s idea named ‘Hastkala’, was about producing and marketing hand-made invitations and greeting cards with the help of economically backward people.
Montfort College and Christ University’s idea, was based around public health, named as ‘RISE’. The basic idea is to create a platform that consists of database of counsellors across Bengaluru and making their service accessible to the general public.
The winning teams were provided certificates and cash prizes worth `50,000.
