TUMAKURU: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) led by DySP Kodandram trapped a junior engineer with the town municipality K N Prakash and his assistant Riyaz while they were taking `1 lakh bribe from civil contractor Lingamaiah on Thursday night.
This was the first catch by the newly-formed ACB in the district.
The contractor had completed works worth `30 lakh and for clearing the pending bill of `15 lakh, he demanded `7 lakh. Even as the contractor had paid `3 lakh, the engineer insisted for the remaining amount. The accused were arrested and booked under Anti-corruption Act 1988.
