D K Ravi's funeral expenses reimbursed by government

TUMAKURU: The government, which has granted compensation to many officers who died in the line of duty, has finally come to the rescue of late IAS officer D K Ravi’s family though not on monetary terms.

Ravi’s mother Gowramma is relieved as the district administration is issuing a cheque of `35,000 to the landlord who had put up a pandal during Ravi’s funeral.

Gowramma, who had mortgaged her gold ornaments to conduct her son’s first death anniversary, said that she now feels debt-free as the ‘shamiyana’ owner was ultimately paid.

She and her husband Kariyappa will get monthly pension of `500 each under ‘Sandhya Suraksha’ scheme.

Ravi’s older brother D K Ramesh will get subsidised loan to buy a taxi under a scheme from the Tourism Department.

Deputy Commissioner K P Mohanraj said that steps will be taken to grant them ‘bagairhukum’ land.

They have been cultivating 2.20 acres of land, of which a mere nine gunta was granted to them in the past.

Handing over the documents of benefits at Mini Vidhana Soudha, Law Minister T B Jayachandra informed that HP gas company has come forward to give a facelift to the government primary school in which Ravi studied.
