Siddu pushes for stalled railway lines, projects

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday to discuss pending railway projects, including the long-delayed Hubballi-Ankola line.

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday to discuss pending railway projects, including the long-delayed Hubballi-Ankola line.
He told reporters that the Hubballi-Ankola line had received approval in 1998, but had been stalled as the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) had not given clearance for phase 1.
The MoEF had sought information. “The details were submitted  but we have not received clearance. We also discussed about upgrading Mysuru railway station to international standards and a high speed rail from Mysuru to Chennai via Bengaluru. He has asked us to give a proposal which can be given at a meeting of officers,” Siddaramaiah said.
