Anti-Corruption Bureau issues summons, Yeddyurappa to seek a week’s time to respond

The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday issued notice to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa to appear before it at 11 am on Saturday to record his statement.

BENGALURU: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday issued notice to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa to appear before it at 11 am on Saturday to record his statement with regard to a case registered against him for illegally denotifying land.

However, sources said Yeddyurappa is likely to request the ACB to give a week’s time, saying that he has to study the documents gathered by the ACB in support of the case.

The ACB registered two first information reports (FIR) against Yeddyurappa for allegedly denotifying land to the extent of 257 acres illegally.

Accusing Yeddyurappa of misused his powers to help land owners, the ACB said the former chief minister caused loss to Bangalore Development Authority. The FIRs were registered by the Bengaluru City branch of ACB on August 10.

According to the FIR, Yeddyurappa passed orders to denotify total land to the extent of 250 acres acquired for Dr Shivarama Karanth Layout in Bengaluru North taluk, when he was the chief minister between 2009-12.
