Bangalore Development Authority forces expert to stop Bellandur operation in two days

BENGALURU: Bellandur Lake is now spewing a new controversy. Two days after a Mumbai expert was roped in by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Commissioner to arrest the foam and stench at the lake, she was abruptly asked to stop work on Monday. Top BDA officials claim the foam level on the lake decreased due to sprinklers installed by them and not because of the organic culture containing microbes poured into the lake by the expert Raginii Jaain. Jaain claims she was assured by Commissioner Rakesh Singh that she would get an official letter to go ahead with the project on Monday, but instead received a call from Engineer Member PN Nayak on Sunday night.

Jaain told Express, “I was told by Nayak that I have not produced the expected results and should stop work immediately. He was rude to me when I countered him.”  Later when Jaain contacted the Commissioner on Monday morning for clarity, she said Singh appeared to be in the dark about the orders to stop work. Following the confusion and tussle within the BDA and also inability to meet the Commissioner on Monday, she decided to leave for Mumbai while her team remained in Bengaluru.

“I am disappointed by it all. My team is still in Bengaluru. If my services are required to clean the lake, I can get back in two hours,” she told Express on her way to the airport.
