DHARWAD: After Mallamma, wife of slain BJP Zilla Panchayat member Yogishgouda, took a U-turn on her stand against the Congress and expressed her willingness to join the party, family members of Yogishgouda decided to continue legal battle in order to get justice for Yogishgouda.
Yogishgouda was hacked to death in Dharwad in June 2016 near his gymnasium by a gang. Mallamma has been opposing the Congress claiming that the government is reluctant to hand over her husband’s murder case to CBI.

Recently, she criticised District Minister Vinay Kulkarni for putting pressure on her to settle for a compromise with the accused in the murder case. She has now gone and approached the Women’s Commission in Bengaluru. On Saturday,  she lodged a complaint against her in-laws. The sudden change not only shocked the political circle in Dharwad district but also the family members.

Slain BJP member’s family was claiming that there may be someone behind the murder. Yogishgouda’s murder case took a new turn when a video in which it was claimed that Minister Vinay Kulkarni was trying to deal a compromise between Yogishgouda’s family and the accused. Another audio was released in which Kulkarni was allegedly threatening an advocate for helping Mallamma to  fight a legal battle in her husband’s murder case.

It is not yet clear why Mallamma, who was opposing Vinay Kulkarni and the Congress showed willingness to join the party. BJP members say there may be something wrong with Mallamma.
Reacting on the issue, Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi said evidence and incidents speak more in this murder case. “It is known that in the state the law and order is  ruined, earlier some people tried to destroy the evidences in this case and later tried to compromise with the accused and now complainant was hijacked,” Joshi said.
