BENGALURU: A card for Non-resident Kannadigas (NRK) and a database as well as incentives for large investments by them; all form part of the policy released by the Commerce and Industries Department on Friday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah released the state’s policy with an intent to encourage investments and sustain better relations with Kannadigas across the globe. Speaking after the launch, Siddaramaiah hoped for more investments from Kannadigas, and said the aim is to provide as comfortable an environment as possible to attract investments.

The policy includes a helpline to provide advisory services on issues on mobilisation of investments, acquiring and disposing of properties, grievances redressal and registration of complaints. The helpline would be part of the existing NRI forum.

Another feature is the creation of a database of NRKs. This e-directory of registered members as well as associations across the globe will help the diaspora connect on social media to share their views and experiences.

The Kannadiga diaspora is also being encouraged by the government to enrol for the NRK card. The card would be co-branded with leading banks and corporates to offer special privileges, including discounts at hotels, jewellery showrooms and hospitals apart from speedy services from government departments. An accident coverage is also promised under the card. The government is also offering sops for investments over `250 crore on a case-by-case basis.
