Ex-employees accuse Swiggy of malpractice

A blog, claimed to have been co-written by four former employees of the food delivery app Swiggy, alleged that the firm put forth incorrect sales growth figures to investors and the media.

BENGALURU: A blog, claimed to have been co-written by four former employees of the food delivery app Swiggy, alleged that the firm put forth incorrect sales growth figures to investors and the media.

Swiggy CEO Sriharsha Majety subsequently tweeted a detailed, paragraph-by-paragraph response to the blog, dismissing the allegations and putting up charts of the ostensibly actual sales figures, as opposed to the charts in the blog.

The blog, ‘Swiggy Sales - A House of Cards,’ stated that the firm had cheated restaurant owners and had breached contractual terms with its partners. The post stated, “Instead of growing our restaurant partners’ businesses, we recently took the best business zone in Bengaluru and started intentionally routing all the users to order from Bowl Company - our own private label kitchen... This just directly hits at the heart of restaurants we ‘partnered’ with to grow our business in the first place.”
