Vijayapura will get a tourism boost: Patil

The Tourism Department is planning to promote Vijayapura as one of the model tourist destinations in the state.

BENGALURU: The Tourism Department is planning to promote Vijayapura as one of the model tourist destinations in the state.  At a meeting on Monday, Water Resources Minister M B Patil discussed about improving tourism infrastructure at Gol Gumbaz and Ibrahim Roza mausoleum, the popular heritage structures in Vijayapura.


Referring to the efforts of the Water Resources department in Vijayapura, to clear debris and remove silt collected in the underground water carriage systems in the historic town, Patil said the water carriage system must be included in the tourism map of the district.


“Several tanks in the district including that of Begum Talab, Mamadapura and Bhutnal, have been rejuvenated and refilled after clearing the debris and removing silt collected for many decades.


Tourism Minister Priyank Kharge assured that Vijayapura would be developed as a model tourism destination in the country. Senior officials of the Archaeological Survey of India as well as state Archeological department, Tourism and others were  present on the occasion.
