Hacker robs Karnataka MLA's bank account of Rs 1.9 lakh

Speaking to The New Indian Express, DCP (South) Sharanappa said that the money was robbed in a single transaction and transferred to another account.

BENGALURU: Channapatna MLA C P Yogeshwar fell prey to cyber fraud after his State Bank of India (SBI) account at at J C road branch was skimmed of  Rs 1.95 lakh. Though a complaint was filed on Tuesday, the incident came to light on Friday, Banashankari police said.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, DCP (South) Sharanappa said that the money was robbed in a single transaction and transferred to another account. "The case is still under investigation," he said.

Police sources said that prima facie, it appears that Yogeshwar's debit card details were procured through skimming. Police have sought the cyber crime division's assistance to trace where the money was transferred.
