BENGALURU: A 22-year-old engineering student was stabbed to death by his hostel roommate on Thursday night.

The victim Rohith (22), a native of Solur, was a third year student of a private college on Magadi Road while the accused Ravish (21) is a final year BA student.

Police said that around 11.30pm, Ravish (in pic) came to the room in an inebriated state. He used the toilet and did not close the door. Rohith asked Ravish to close the door after flushing the toilet as it was stinking. Other students in the room also complained.

When Ravish refused, it led to a heated argument between him and Rohith. In a fit of rage, Ravish stabbed Rohith with a kitchen knife.

Another roommate Amaresh, who tried to rescue Rohith, sustained minor stab injuries. Students sleeping in the other rooms rushed out and rushed Rohith to a private hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Byadarahalli police, who were alerted, rushed to the spot and arrested Ravish who tried to fleefrom the premises.  Keshavagowda Patil, warden in-charge, said Rohith was a good student and there were repeated complaints against Ravish who used to come late to the hostel regularly.
