BENGALURU: Two personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were trampled to death by an elephant in Kaggalipura forest range in Bannerghatta National Park-Taralu Estate in south Bengaluru early on Sunday.

About 8 hours earlier, on Saturday night, Ashok, a resident of Boothanahalli, escaped from
the elephant when he was on his way to the village on his two-wheeler along with a pillion rider.
The duo stopped the bike after seeing the elephant and waited for a while. But they fled the scene when it came charging towards them.  
Mariswamy N, a farmer and resident of Taralu told Express, “There were similar incidents
in nearby villages but the Forest officials did not reach the spot even after a day.” he said.
 “On Sunday, Forest and senior police officers inspected the spot within two hours of the incident. There’s no value for the lives of farmers. No action has been taken so far,” he rued.
