BALLARI: He bought a new SIM card in his name and gave it to a friend when he requested for it. The friend used the SIM card to murder a man. When the murderer learnt that the police may track the real owner of the SIM card, he killed the person who gave it to him. Ballari police have successfully cracked both the murder cases.

The arrested have been identified as Mula Shrinivas Reddy, a police head constable of Anantapur battalion of Andhra Pradesh reserved police, and Boya Jayaram alias Abra alias Aparichitudu, an autorickshaw driver in Tadipatri town in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Moneylender Venkatarami Reddy, a resident of Havambavi near Ballari was found murdered in a field near Shreenivas Nagar camp on Siruguppa-Ballari Road on the intervening night of April 29 and 30. His body was found burnt along with his two-wheeler. Rural police had registered a case. Superintendent of Police Chethan R had formed a team, led by rural CPI  Prasad K Gokhale. Based on the leads from, the mobile phone call log of the deceased, the police arrested the suspects.
This is how the stories unfolded. According to the confession statement of Shrinivas, Venkatarami was his relative but would often call his wife and trouble her. Irked by this, Shrinivas decided to “eliminate” Venkatarami.

He had befriended Jayaram while working in Tadipatri and would commute in his autorickshaw often. They became close friends. Shrinivas sought Jayaram’s help to murder Venkatarami. He asked Jayaram to come to Ballari with a new SIM card to ensure that they are not caught after the crime.
Jayaram had asked his friend Paravila Shekar to get him a SIM card. After getting the SIM card, Shrinivas and Jayaram came to a field on the city outskirts with four beer bottles, chilli powder and chicken.
Shrinivas called up Venkatarami and invited him to the party. When the party was over, Shrinivas argued with Venkatarami about harassing his wife. The duo killed Venkatarami by stabbing him with beer bottles and torching his body and the two-wheeler.

After realising that the police might track down the real owner of the SIM card, Shrinivas asked Jayaram to kill Shekar, who had helped Jayaram get the SIM card.
Jayaram then invited Shekar for a party along with his other friends at a school in Putlur village of Tadipatri taluk and killed Shekar by dropping a boulder on his head. He burnt Shekar’s body by pouring petrol. Putlur police had registered a case in this regard.
