BENGALURU: Even as the Siddaramaiah government is preparing to showcase its achievements of four years in office on May 13, opposition BJP on Thursday released a 29-point ‘chargesheet’ on the alleged failures of the Siddaramaiah government.

Taking Karnataka to the top spot in the country in corruption is the biggest achievement of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said, releasing the 63 page booklet of the chargesheet.
Siddaramaiah, who came to power after leading a padayatra to Ballari against corruption, has betrayed the people, he said. Land grabbers and sand mafia are ruling the roost in the state and Karnataka has been ranked the top state in corruption, Yeddyurappa added.

Accusing the Siddaramaiah government of total failure, Yeddyurappa said the chief minister has turned a blind eye to the plight of farmers. About 2,573 farmers have committed suicide in the last four years in the state, he said. The chargesheet also said that there has been neglect even in disbursing the solatium to the families of the farmers who had committed suicide.

The chargesheet accuses the CM of financial profligacy by pointing to the state’s total debt burden of `2.42 lakh crore. The Siddaramaiah government has raised loans of about `1.28 lakh crore in the last four years.
Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar accused Siddaramaiah of not showing any urgency to redress the plight of the farmers and the poor. The Siddaramaiah government has failed to utilise the funds allocated in the budget for water resources, rural development, social welfare, education and agriculture, Shettar said.

Shettar plays down Eshwarappa’s absence
The absence of the Opposition leader in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa at the event was glaring as many senior leaders were present. Replying to a question on Eshwarappa’s absence, Shettar said, “Eshwarappa was not there even when we had a similar event earlier and he is not here today as well,” Shettar said and added that there is no infighting in the party. “We will work unitedly to organise the party,” he added.

BJP’s allegations a bunch of lies: Parameshwara
Home Minister G Parameshwara described BJP’s allegations about increasing lawlessness in the state as a bunch of lies. “I do not know where they have got their statistics from. None of the numbers they have provided, whether it is for murder or rape or other crimes, match with what is available with the department. It is completely absurd,” he scoffed. Parameshwara said that the BJP is misguiding people with poor statistics and misinformation.
