TUMAKURU: It was a show of unity, though on surface, at the launch of the BJP’s Janasamparka Abhiyan rally here on Thursday. In the presence of BJP state in-charge Muralidhar Rao, the party’s senior leaders including K S Eshwarappa, reiterated that they would go to 2018 assembly polls under the leadership of B S Yeddyurappa, who will be their chief ministerial candidate.

Apart from the habitual admonishing of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Eshwarappa, did touch upon the differences in the party, though on an apologetic note with a veiled reference to Yeddyurappa. He said the party leaders would not repeat the mistakes they made earlier.

Breakfast at a Dalit’s home

Siddaganga mutt, which holds significance in the political landscape of the state, was the first stop for BJP leaders before attending rallies in Tumakuru and Gubbi. However, party state chief Yeddyurappa skipped breakfast at the mutt and instead chose to eat at the house of Hanumantharayappa, a Dalit at Maraluru Dinne area.  Yeddyurappa said he will continue to visit Dalits’ houses during the 37 days of Janaspandana Abhiyan across the state.
