GP president’s husband bites off member’s ear after tiff

TUMAKURU:  In a bizarre incident, the husband of the gram panchayat president of Shettikere GP in Tumakuru’s Chikkanayakanahalli taluk chewed off a part of the ear of a gram panchayat member.
The incident occurred late on Thursday night after the two were engaged in a bitter row.

The victim Jagadish Babu had been engaged in a running feud with Paramesh, husband of the gram panchayat president Nagamani. Both belong to the JD(S) and are supporters of MLA C B Sureshbabu.
Jagadish had been objecting to Paramesh acting as de facto GP president and even accused him of corruption. On Thursday, he demanded repair of the CCTV installed in the GP office during the meeting alleging that Paramesh was illegally executing his wife’s power. This led to an altercation between Jagadish and Paramesh.

Later in the night at around 10.30 pm, Paramesh visited Jagadish’s house and picked up a quarrel. The duo got into a physical fight and Paramesh bit off Jagadish’s ear.Jagadish was rushed to the the government hospital in Chikkanayakanahalli town along with the severed ear part. Doctors later  stitched it back.
The police have registered a case against the absconding Paramesh under section 325 of IPC, for  disfiguration of a part of the body.
