DAVANGERE:A day after the doctors’ strike over the contentious Karnataka Private Medical Establishment Amendment Bill ended, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that the bill would be tabled in both Houses of the legislature with no major amendments.

However, on Friday the Chief Minister had said after a meeting with the doctors’ delegation in Belagavi that he had agreed to remove some stringent clauses from the bill. These include removing the jail term for erring doctors and scrapping of grievance redressal committees.

When asked about the deaths of patients caused due to alleged lack of treatment owing to the doctors’s strike, Siddaramaiah said compensation would be paid to families of the deceased if he receives any written complaint. On Saturday, private medical establishments were fully operational.
