MUV collides head-on with oil tanker, 5 killed

Five persons were killed when a Cruiser MUV collided head-on with an oil tanker near Avarad village of Kalaburagi taluk on Tuesday morning.

KALABURAGI: Five persons were killed when a Cruiser MUV collided head-on with an oil tanker near Avarad village of Kalaburagi taluk on Tuesday morning. Kalaburagi SP Shashikumar said that three people died on the spot and two others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Veerabhadra (55), Samadhan (40), Babu Rao (35), Ujwal (14) and Prajwal (13).

Police said that a marriage party was going to Revanasiddeshwara temple of Ratkal village (Chincholi taluk) from Barsi village of Solapur district (Maharastra) in a Cruiser. When the vehicle was near Avarad village of Kalaburagi taluk, on National Highway No 218, an oil tanker which was coming from opposite direction collided head-on with the Cruiser, killing three people on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Seven others sustained serious injuries.

Of them, two were admitted to United Hospital and rest were admitted to a government hospital.   Driver of the oil tanker is absconding.
