Minister Rai had just inaugurated the Biodiversity Park by cutting the ribbon and was seated on the dias when two drone cameras started moving on top to capture video of the ongoing function organised by Forest Department. While the welcome speech was in progress, the drone cameras disturbed the bee hive which was on the tree just beside the dias. Following the same, the bees attacked the gathering which included the Minister Rai, Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi, Chief Conservator of Forests Krishna Udupudi, Deputy Conservator of Forests B V Patil and others. The minister who sustained four bee stings, was then rushed for medical aid. Prior to the incident, speaking to the reporters, Rai said that the Biodiversity Park is first of its kind in the state.
