Sansad wants DNA test of  export meat

UDUPI:The cow took centre stage on the concluding day of the three-day Dharma Sansad here on Sunday.  A resolution was passed seeking a DNA test of meat that is exported in order to curb illegal beef export, shutting down of all cattle slaughterhouses as per the order of the National Green Tribunal and taking action against cattle traffickers to protect cows.

Briefing reporters,  joint secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Surendra Kumar Jain said DNA test, though time-consuming, is essential in the interest of cows and people’s sentiments.
Dharma Sansad, the congregation of Hindu religious leaders, also urged the Centre to withdraw the order asking state governments to come up with dossiers of cow vigilantes and instead asked to take action on 200 cattle traffickers about whom they have already provided the list.

Earlier, seers from across the country who spoke on the issue expressed serious concern over slaughtering of cattle and said it will have a direct impact on agriculture.  They urged the government to clear encroachment of grazing lands (gomala) as the encroachments are forcing cattle to go to streets. “Grazing land is not meant for politicians or powerful people but for cattle to graze,” they said.
