Congress, Venugopal under BJP fire in Kerala solar scam

The solar panel scam in neighbouring Kerala is causing ripples in Karnataka too with BJP training its guns on Congress MP and AICC General Secretary in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka.

BENGALURU: The solar panel scam in neighbouring Kerala is causing ripples in Karnataka too with BJP training its guns on Congress MP and AICC General Secretary in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka K C Venugopal.

Congress has lost its moral right to file FIRs against BJP leaders in Karnataka with the Kerala government deciding to file an FIR against Venugopal in the multi-crore solar power panel scam,  BJP MLA and spokesperson S Suresh Kumar said on Thursday.

BJP’s attack comes in the backdrop of Kerala government’s decision to file cases of sexual assault against many prominent politicians of the erstwhile UDF regime and officials named by solar scam accused Saritha Nair.

Demanding Venugopal’s removal from the responsibility of Congress party in-charge upholding the moral dignity, Suresh Kumar said it is most surprising  that Venugopal is monitoring the Congress party’s election campaign in Karnataka when he himself is facing grave charges in the multi-crore  scam. “Congress in Karnataka is scam-ridden to the core,” he said.“It is amusing that the Siddaramaiah government is working overtime in filing FIRs every day against BJP leaders,” he added.

According  to BJP, the Kerala government’s decision to file an FIR against Venugopal  is a “litmust test” for the ruling Congress in Karnataka whether to listen to ‘moral conscience’ and relieve Venugopal of the present responsibility or continue to maintain  ‘an ostrich-like attitude’.

Mahila Morcha protest today

BJP  Mahila Morcha members have decided to stage a protest against AICC  General Secretary in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka KC Venugopal  on Friday near Gandhi Statue in Gandhi Nagar.  Venugopal,  accused of seeking “extraneous” favours from Sarita Nair in the solar panel scam, has no moral right to continue in any responsible position,  the Morcha has said.
