BENGALURU: JD(S) has agreed to continue its pact with Congress in the BBMP Mayoral election to be held on September 28. Congress would get the Mayor’s post according to the latest agreement and JD(S) would settle for the Deputy Mayor’s post. The latter would also head four Standing Committees in the civic body.
JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda announced the pact after one more round of talks with Congress leaders on Sunday. Apart from Deputy Mayor’s post, JD(S) would get to head Standing Committees on Town Planning, Accounts, Education and Ward-Level Works.Polling for the Mayor election would be held on September 28 and members have been instructed to be present before 11.30am on the polling day at BBMP Council hall to exercise their franchise. Regional Commissioner Jayanthi has in a release made it clear that those who arrive late would not be allowed to enter the hall.
The instruction has been issued in the backdrop of ruckus that had erupted last year when security personnel stopped MPs Rajiv Chandrashekar and PC Mohan from entering the hall as they arrived late.
