Soldier who killed LeT militants gets a hero’s welcome

Zuber, a CRPF jawan, who thwarted a Fidayeen attack on a CRPF camp by LeT militants at Karannagar in Srinagar on February 12 this year, was given a hero’s welcome when he arrived.

MANGALURU: Zuber, a CRPF jawan, who thwarted a Fidayeen attack on a CRPF camp by LeT militants at Karannagar in Srinagar on February 12 this year, was given a hero’s welcome when he arrived at his native at Atur in Puttur taluk here on Sunday.   

After his arrival, Zuber was garlanded and taken in a procession through the main road of the village in an open vehicle. Scores of people who gathered on the roadsides greeted him with flowers. Addressing the villagers, he said he was overwhelmed by the reception given to him in his native place.  

On February 12, terrorists attacked CRPF’s 23rd battalion of which Zuber was party. The jawans struck back immediately, following which the militants retreated and holed up in a building in Karannagar area. In an operation that lasted for several hours, those militants were killed. During the counter operation, a CRPF constable Mojahid Khan was also killed.
