Rahul Gandhi to address mega rally at Palace Grounds on Sunday

BENGALURU: The ‘Janashirvadha Yatra’ launched by the Congress is set to culminate with a massive public rally to be addressed by AICC president Rahul Gandhi in Bengaluru on Sunday. According to KPCC president G Parameshwara, about 4-5 lakh people are expected to attend the rally.

Rahul is set to interact with safai karmacharis at Jakkarayana Kere grounds at Seshadripuram. He will then head to Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, Central College campus, for an interaction with industrialists at 11am.
State Congress leaders have sent out invites to about 1,500 industrialists to participate in the event. Speaking to TNIE, Sudhakar Shetty, senior vice-president of Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry said about 1,000 entrepreneurs are expected to participate. The industrialists are likely to raise issues which are affecting smooth functioning in the state.

“The demand for abolition of trade licences for business establishments will be raised as it is being misused by officials of city civic bodies to harass traders,” Shetty said.Rahul’s visit will conclude with a massive rally at the Palace Grounds. About 4,000 buses have been arranged to ferry people from all over the state to Palace Grounds. The rally will be one of the biggest the city has ever witnessed, Parameshwara said as he inspected the preparations for the rally on Friday. Arrangements have been made to serve lunch for those who turn up for the rally.

Cong candidates’ list after April 14
The list of Congress candidates for the Assembly election is almost ready and it will be released any time after April 14, Parameshwara said. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the preparations for Rahul Gandhi’s rally to be held on Sunday, he said most of the sitting MLAs will get tickets. Replying to a question about many leaders lobbying for ticket to their kin, Parameshwara said, “Those with ability to win will get the ticket. It will be decided by the Screening Committee.”
