MYSURU: Varuna assembly constituency that has garnered a lot of attention due to many reasons in view of assembly elections, on Monday witnessed yet another significant development.Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and most likely to be the Congress candidate from the constituency, called on former IPS officer L Revanasiddaiah. The meeting of Yathindra assumes significance as BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa’s son B Y Vijayendra had called on the former police officer at the latter’s farmhouse on Nanjangud Road on the outskirts on Sunday.

The breakfast meeting that lasted 20 minutes did not result in any prominent discussion, as Yathindra himself later told the media, “I came to meet him on the advice of my father. My father will be meeting him after returning from New Delhi.”

Revanasiddaiah though associated with the Congress party has kept aloof from active politics since long.
He was barely seen in any conventions, giving rise to speculations that he is being cornered especially after he switched side from the BJP. In this backdrop, the meeting was more viewed as an attempt by Yathindra to placate Revanasiddaiah,

Revanasiddaiah told reporters, “It is nice to see youngsters taking to politics. He sought my support in the elections and I blessed him with good wishes. It will not be wrong even if Siddaramaiah meets me.” He also recalled how he had to earn the wrath of his own Lingayat community during the 2013 assembly elections when he actively campaigned for the Congress party.

Yathindra also launched his election campaign at Varuna assembly constituency in the district.  Yathindra, who paid obeisance at Ramalingeshwara temple at Rampura village, later went on foot to tell people about development works initiated by his father.
