BENGALURU: It is one and a half month since Prime Minister Narendra Modi was last seen in poll-bound Karnataka and his long absence in the battle has set tongues wagging about a possible shift in BJP’s strategy on drawing from Brand Modi.
But it could just be the lull before the storm. The party is set to unleash a Modi blitzkrieg in the last phase of the campaign that could see BJP’s vote-catching mascot address more than a dozen rallies, and the number could even go up to 20.
The party is also set to bring Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to campaign to raise the pitch.
“Karnataka blitz will scorch the poll battle. It will be unleashed in the last phase. He will devote about 10 days of his time for an intense campaign in the state starting from last week of this month(April),” BJP National General Secretary in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka P Muralidhar Rao told The New Indian Express.
However, he declined to elaborate on the schedule. “The campaign schedule is being worked out. Having Modi is our great advantage and we will use it to maximum effect. He will address rallies touching all the regions and centres in the state,” Rao said.
