Mangaluru: Miscreants pelt stones at bus, two BJP activists injured

MANGALURU: Two BJP activists sustained head injuries after a group of miscreants attacked the bus they were travelling in at Thota Bengre on Tuesday. The incident sparked a massive protest by hundreds of people and the Panambur police were forced to resort to mild lathi charge. 

The injured were identified as Lokesh (30) and Rahul ( 22), both residents of Thota Bengre. 

Sources in Panambur police station informed that a group of youth from Thota Bengre had been to Malpe to attend a fishermen's conference on Tuesday afternoon. But, when they returned to Thota Bengre at around 11 pm, a group of miscreants allegedly pelted stones at the bus they were travelling in. In the incident, two people said to be BJP activists,  sustained head injuries. This enraged the rest of the passengers who attempted to chase the miscreants. 

As it is a communally sensitive area, hundreds of youth assembled and the Panambur police rushed to the place and resorted to a mild lathi charge. However, the situation is under control now, police sources said.
