Citizen groups raise objections to draft rules of Karnataka government

Public health groups have objected to various sections of the rules saying that they lean towards large corporate hospitals.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government notified the draft of the KPMEA Rules, 2018 on February 9 and Saturday was the last day for the public to raise objections.

Public health groups have objected to various sections of the rules saying that they lean towards large corporate hospitals. Any objections or suggestions were required to be addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare and sent to him.

Around 20 citizen groups in their letter to the health secretary, demanded that the rules be redrafted. They also asked to incorporate crucial changes to prevent conflict of interest, avert misuse of the Act.
