BELAGAVI: The police, who had recently arrested three persons in connection with a theft in which about 4 kg gold ornaments were stolen from the treasury of a local Cooperative society, succeeded in recovering all the stolen ornaments worth `1.1 crore from their possession, in Belagavi on Thursday.It may be recalled that police had arrested Mangesh Shashikant Shirodkar (45), resident of Shastri Nagar, Belagavi, Shrishail Yamanappa Tarihal (35), a resident of Marihal village in Belagavi taluk and Maruti Mahableshwar Raikar (45), a resident of Shahapur on July 7.

The trio were working with Kalika Daivadya Souhard Cooperative Society (KDSCS), where the theft incident was reported. According to sources, the society had facilitated loan to its customers, by taking gold ornaments as security. Shirodkar, who was the manager of the society was the prime suspect.
