Karnataka: Two killed in accident at Nellikatte junction; one critical

Two persons were killed and one sustained critical injuries when a car collided with a bus at Nellikatte Junction near Kundapur here on Sunday evening.

UDUPI: Two persons were killed and one sustained critical injuries when a car collided with a bus at Nellikatte Junction near Kundapur here on Sunday evening. Deekshith (21) from Malyady and Kiran (22) from Hosamata Charokotti have been identified as the deceased. The injured is Arun (21) from Holthur.

Sources told Express that Arun has been admitted in Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. His condition is said to be stable on Monday, but hospital sources did not confirm this. ''We are treating him and he is slowly responding to the treatment. We are not able to tell anything as of now'' said hospital sources.

Deekshith and his friends had gone to Jog Falls in a car. When they were returning, the car hit a private bus which was coming from the opposite direction. Deekshith died on the spot while Kiran died while he was being taken to the hospital. While Arun was injured, passengers in the bus also sustained minor injuries. 

All of them have been admitted to hospitals in Kundapur. Kundapur traffic police have registered a case under sections 279, 337 and 338 of IPC. Circle inspector Manjappa D R visited the spot. 

It is said that the over speeding bus hit the car while it was overtaking another vehicle. Investigations are on.
